ESDM Certified

Individualised Services for Children & Parents

Spectrum Interventions applies the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) at the highest quality across all programs and services. Our service provides individual therapy and parent coaching sessions with a Certified ESDM Therapist in the clinic, early childhood setting or in-home. Following the Key Worker Model, your therapist will work in collaboration with you and other professionals, such as allied health, educators and other professionals to ensure supports are built around your child.

ESDM Intensive Therapy

These sessions are intensive 1:1 therapy sessions in the clinic or at your child’s early childhood setting. The therapist will engage your child in a wide range of developmental activities using the Principles of the ESDM, teaching your child to pay attention to faces, voices and gestures. Through these play-based, social activities your child learns that interacting with others is enjoyable and fun, providing a platform for communicative and social learning.

Parent coaching in the ESDM

Spectrum Interventions recognises that your role as a parent plays an integral part of your child’s lifelong learning. Through our Parent Coaching program our goal is for parents to feel empowered to support their child’s learning and behaviour. Research shows that the ESDM yields its best results when the child receives intensive ESDM therapy and parents are coached to deliver this type of intervention at home, enhancing learning opportunities within everyday routines.

Outreach Program for rural & regional

All children regardless of where they live are entitled to quality, early intervention programs to support their learning, development and quality of life. Based in Sydney NSW, Spectrum Interventions reaches out to Regional and Rural areas through various modalities to deliver therapy for children in need, who may not have access to the full range of services. We offer the Outreach Program that combines parent coaching via online video conferencing (Telehealth) throughout school terms, with ESDM visits to your region during school holidays, across a 12week cycle.

How we make a difference

What is the ESDM

The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is an early intervention approach to support the development and learning of young children with Autism, under 5 years of age. This model is founded by Dr. Sally Rogers and Dr. Geraldine Dawson from University California Davis MIND Institute, and has a strong and growing evidence base across individual therapy, group programs and parent coaching.

The ESDM has a manualised set of Teaching Principles, meaning that all Certified Therapists follow a structured and prescribed set of teaching skills. In order to become certified in the ESDM, the therapist needs to demonstrate these skills at an accuracy rate of 80% or above during the course of therapy, known as Fidelity. Fidelity is a measure of quality and can be replicated around the world across many therapists through rigorous training and reflective practice. Therefore, the integrity of the ESDM is at its highest quality when applied by an experienced Certified Therapist.
